LOS ANGELES – Through weather delays from a tropical storm in Texas to those caused by an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, players and their families arrived here at the Omni Hotel to begin a week they will never forget as participants in the sixth annual Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game. What lies ahead for them is a week packed with activities on and off the field prior to them doing battle Saturday at noon in Dodger Stadium.

Throughout the day players and coaches arrived to be fitted for uniforms and to collect their practice gear. Once settled in, they attended the annual welcome dinner and orientation.

During the welcome dinner Perfect Game, the game's selection partner handed out its top awards. Here are the winners Tuesday night:

      Best Running Prospect: LeVon Washington (Gainesville, Fla.)
      Top Fielder: Mychal Givens (Tampa, Fla.)
      Best Hitting Prospect: David Nick (Cypress, Ca.)
      Top Power Hitting Prospect: Jonathan Singleton (Lakewood, Ca.)
      Top Pitching Prospect: Matt Purke (Spring, Texas)
      Top Overall Prospect: Donovan Tate (Cartersville, Ga.)

For six All-Americans, they closed out the day sitting in front of a camera. That's because
INF/RHP Givens of Plant HS; LHP Purke of Klein HS; OF Tate of Cartersville HS;C/RHP Austin Maddox (Eagle's View Academy) of Jacksonville, Fla., LHP Tyler Matzek (Capistrano Valley HS) of Mission Viejo, Ca.; and RHP Jacob Turner (Westminster Christian Academy) of St. Charles, Mo., taped vignettes to be used during the Fox Sports Net broadcast as finalists for the Jackie Robinson award – Aflac's Player of the Year award given to the nation's top high school player. The winner will be announced Friday night at the Aflac Awards Banquet.
