Christian Colon of Anaheim Hills, Calif. Leads West Team to
9-8 Victory in 4th Annual Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (Aug. 12, 2006) – The fourth annual Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game went down to the wire today as the West squad held on for a narrow 9-8 victory over the East team at San Diego State University's Tony Gwynn Stadium.

The West team's offense was lead by Christian Colon (Anaheim Hills, CA), who tallied two singles, 3 SB and 3 R (tying an Aflac All-American Game Record) to help lead his team to victory. His performance earned him Most Valuable Player honors. Josh Vitters (Anaheim) also went 3-for-4 with 3 2B, 2 R and an RBI.

Prior to the game, Cameron Rupp (Plano, Texas) belted a record seven home runs to win the Aflac All-American Home Run Derby.

The 2006 Aflac All-American Baseball Game raised $130,000 for San Diego's Rady Children's Hospital and $15,000 for Coaches Curing Kids Cancer, the game's official charity partners, as part of Aflac's ongoing commitment to support research and treatment of pediatric cancer.

At the Aflac All-American Awards dinner, Michael Burgess (Tampa, Fla.) won the third annual Jackie Robinson Award as the Aflac National High School Player of the Year. Burgess was presented with the award by Rachel Robinson, the widow of the late Hall of Fame Baseball Player Jackie Robinson.

In balloting of coaches, players and staff, Derek Dietrich (Parma, Ohio), took the Sportsmanship Award for his efforts this week. Baseball America also named Michael Main (Deltona, Fla.) its Pitching Prospect of the Year.
